CONSENT2GO
At Firbank, the accuracy and management of student health records is a critical process for us. Government legislation in this space is placing further responsibilities on schools, while also requiring clear and consistent communication between schools and families to ensure that optimum care is provided for all students.
After careful evaluation of our requirements, and of providers in the market Firbank Grammar has partnered with a company called Consent2Go (C2G). This integrated system will allow parents/guardians and the School to record health information about students in an accurate, secure and timely manner and provide numerous benefits, including risk management and online approvals for excursions and School activities.
You will receive an email from Firbank Grammar, with instructions, asking you to provide your child’s current health information. Once you have completed this initial process, the ease and convenience of this online solution will begin to provide real advantages and time savings for parents. Ongoing medical updates, and the provision of permission to attend camps and excursions, will be more user-friendly and efficient.
The rollout and use of this product will be staged across 2019. What is essential, is the initial collation of accurate health information about your child. We thank you in advance for the information that you will provide during this collation process.
ASSESSMENTS & REPORTS
ONGOING ASSESSMENTS
At Firbank we have an ongoing assessment policy. The assessment tasks vary according to the subject and can include topic tests, assignments, oral tests and practical tasks.
REPORTS
Interim online reports and detailed semester reports at the end of each semester are delivered via the Portal.
During the year, all Year 7 girls undertake the compulsory NAPLAN assessment and students also participate in a variety of mathematics, science and language competitions.
Early in Term 1, all students undertake testing in literacy and numeracy in order to assist the School to identify strengths and weaknesses in these two vital areas of the curriculum.
FLEXISCHOOLS
Flexischools is the fast and secure way to order and pay for the School tuckshop.

FIRBANK SCHOOL APP
New families will be provided with login details and information about accessing The Portal and the Firbank App in the week prior to their child commencing at Firbank. Until parents receive their login details, they will not be able to access The Portal or sign in to the Firbank App. Prior to new parents having access to the Portal or Firbank App, all Firbank correspondence to new families will be sent via email.
THE PORTAL
All parents have password protected Portal access that allows them to view their child’s academic progress.
Once parents receive their login credentials to the portal it is essential they immediately reset their password by selecting the My Account tab on the main menu bar. A student’s individual profile on the Portal contains a list of all subject teachers with an easy-to-use link should you have any subject-related questions or concerns.
ABSENTEES
Please call the absentee line 9591-5198 or email [email protected] if your child is going to be absent due to an illness or an appointment. The absentee line is a 24hr voicemail message service. Please call or email before 10.00 a.m. if your child will be absent for the day.
TECHNOLOGY
Gaining access to contemporary learning technologies is essential in preparing students for an ever-changing world. Firbank requires all students from Year 4 to have access to their own learning device. Our younger students (ELC to Year 3) are provided with access to both desktop computers as well as school managed sets of iPads to support their learning.
Firbank SchoolTV
As a whole School community, we need to work on ways to help our kids improve their personal resilience, providing the structures for them to learn how to accept failure and take risks. Firbank is now part of SchoolTV which is a new, ongoing resource that is available to our parents. Each edition will address a major topic with expert interviews, fact sheets, parent quiz, books, recommended apps and much more.
This resource is created in association with Dr Michael Carr-Gregg. SchoolTV aggregates information from many great resources such as BeyondBlue and ReachOut, amongst other and SchoolTV provides a single stream of independent factual information that is designed to save parents time and to avoid the confusion of searching online across multiple sites for information.
