The Sliding Doors Foundation Scholarship
Through the generosity of The Sliding Doors Foundation, a new scholarship has been established at Firbank Grammar, creating a life-changing opportunity for a student who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience a Firbank education.
The Sliding Doors Foundation Scholarship will be awarded on a means-tested basis to a student who demonstrates strong potential, a commitment to leadership and a genuine desire to make a positive contribution to their community.
The successful applicant will be a student who is ready to embrace the opportunities a Firbank education provides, both in and beyond the classroom, and who will contribute positively to the life of the School.
This scholarship reflects Firbank’s belief in the transformative power of education and in providing young people with the opportunity to thrive, discover their strengths and make a meaningful difference in the world.

Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants for The Sliding Doors Foundation Scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Be currently in Year 8, applying to commence at Firbank in Year 9 or above
- Demonstrate financial circumstances that would otherwise make a Firbank education inaccessible
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
The scholarship is not available to students who are currently enrolled at Firbank.
Selection criteria
The scholarship will be awarded to a student of strong character and potential who demonstrates a genuine desire to embrace the opportunities, values and community of Firbank.
Selection will take into consideration:
- An interview
- School reports and academic progress
- Demonstrated involvement in and contribution to their school or wider community
- The student’s potential to benefit from and contribute to life at Firbank
- Financial circumstances
The scholarship is means-tested, and shortlisted families will be required to provide financial information as part of the assessment process.
Scholarship value
Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Principal and cover a percentage of tuition fees.
Unless otherwise specified, The Sliding Doors Foundation Scholarship does not cover:
- Books, stationery or uniforms
- Consolidated charges
- Discretionary costs, such as overseas trips and other optional activities
Duration
Recipients of The Sliding Doors Foundation Scholarship are expected to complete their secondary education at Firbank Grammar.
Scholarship conditions
Scholarship recipients are expected to:
- Maintain a consistently high standard of academic effort and engagement
- Embrace the opportunities available to them at Firbank
- Contribute positively and enthusiastically to the life of the School
- Demonstrate behaviour that reflects Firbank’s values and expectations
A recipient’s progress, engagement and contribution to School life will be reviewed annually.
A scholarship may be withdrawn if the Principal is not satisfied with the recipient’s academic effort, engagement, conduct or adherence to the conditions of the scholarship. Failure to meet fee obligations may also result in the scholarship being withdrawn.
