Firbank Grammar Congratulates the Class of 2019
Firbank’s Best Results in the last six years

In this Firbank’s 110th year, Firbank is delighted that the Class of 2019 has continued the School’s tradition of academic excellence.  

We congratulate each and every student on their efforts this year. Their commitment, resilience and achievements in so many areas are reflected in the 2019 VCE results and we are very proud. 

Firbank’s VCE students have achieved across the board and Firbank is pleased to announce that with the Top ATAR score of 99.8, the 2019 Dux is Helen Gong. The joint Dux Secundus achieving 99.75 are Christina Qian and Sasha (Alexandra) Zilberg.

Class of 2019 VCE Results Highlights: 

  • Median Study Score 36
  • 24% Study Scores over 40 
  • 46.4% ATARs over 90 – Top 10% in Australia 
  • 25.5% ATARS over 95 – Top 5% in Australia 
  • Median ATAR 89.0 
  • 3 Perfect Study Scores (50) 
  • 56.0% Grades A or A+ 
  • 5 students attained ATARs over 99

These excellent results reflect Firbank’s strong commitment to learning and we thank our dedicated staff, families and community for their care and support of the students throughout the year. 

Well done to the Class of 2019. They have exemplified our value of integrity and have conquered the challenges set forth before them not only academically, but across all areas of school life. Firbank looks forward to hearing where their journey guides them next and to welcoming them back to the Firbank Community as Alumnae.

Congratulations to Helen Gong –
Firbank Grammar’s Dux of 2019 

Helen Gong received an ATAR score of 99.8. 

She has excelled throughout her Firbank learning journey and was awarded both the English and French prizes in 2019 and the Global Politics prize in 2018.  In addition, she has achieved the Bronze Level Duke of Edinburgh’s award.  Since beginning in Year 7 Helen has been involved in all aspects of life at Firbank. 

We wish her and all our students the very best of luck in their future endeavours as they continue to conquer learning throughout their lives.

 


Christina Qian and Sasha (Alexandra) Zilberg

Congratulations to Christina Qian and Sasha (Alexandra) Zilberg, Firbank Grammar’s joint Dux Secundus of 2019. 

Christina and Sasha received ATAR scores of 99.75. 

Christina received the Accounting Prize, The Lewinsky Family Prize for Further Mathematics, Full House Colours and a House Staff Award, as well as numerous School Pockets including Vocal Music this year.

In 2019 Sasha was awarded the Macfarlane Burnet Centre Prize for Chemistry, the Rosemary Wilkinson Prize for Specialist Mathematics, an Instrumental Music Colour and Full House Colours.

Firbank Notable Achievers

The following students excelled in their chosen subjects and received notable ATAR scores.

Jiaming (Candella) Chen achieved an outstanding ATAR Score of 99.15 and Mia Shepherd achieved an ATAR score of 99.10.

Chloe Hartley, Annabelle Holman and Ines Macdonald all achieved ‘Perfect’ Study Scores in Health and Human Development.
