What others say about a private school career with Firbank:
Firbank has been my second home for over thirty years. I have been privileged to work with professional colleagues open to new ideas and methodologies designed to improve educational outcomes. Often my thinking has been challenged and through reflection on my practices I have then embraced new pedagogies. Undertaking post-graduate study has enabled me to integrate theory and practice and then observe the benefits for the students in measured change; this too has kept me revitalised. Firbank’s rich co-curricular program has provided me with opportunities to interact with students outside the formal classroom and often it is here that the roles are reversed and I am the one learning new skills. Dr Debbie Erikson, History Teacher, Senior School.
I have found it challenging, stimulating, and full of possibilities. Firbank is a very supportive community where individuals motivate each other to be the best they can be, both students and staff. We know students will succeed if given the opportunities and the right conditions and I have found Firbank has each in abundance. Students have exposure to community outreach, clubs that enhance their critical thinking skills and numerous sports and outdoor education possibilities. I feel very lucky and grateful to be part of such an amazing team of experienced and dedicated professionals. Verity Whinnerah, Physical Education Teacher, Senior School.
