Year Level Specific Programs
Our unique Leadership Program gives each Year 6 student the opportunity to lead a team in an area of their chosen interest including Art, Environment, House, Library, LOTE (Mandarin), Music, Social Service and Student Welfare. There is not a voting system except for the roles of the two School Captains.
Each Leadership Team has a staff mentor who teaches that area of interest while our Head of Campus mentors the two School Captains.
Our Leadership Program comprises:
Team Captains – The Year 6 Captains lead teams made up of Year 5 students. At the beginning of the year, the Year 5 students self-select which team they would like to be in. They change teams half-way through the year, giving them the opportunity to work with different Year 6 Captains and a different staff mentor.
The Year 5 students learn what it takes to be leader. They learn about taking instructions, being delegated tasks and are encouraged to speak up and voice their ideas and opinions. This prepares them for Year 6 when they become Campus Leaders.
Year 4 students take on environmental and sustainability leadership. Activities include:
World Environment Day, Tree Planting Day, Walk to School Day, care of the veggie garden and the chicken coop and maintaining the Zoo Food area.
In Year 3 students commence after school sport and leadership, teamwork and organization skills are taught. They have the responsibility of spending time with an ELC 3 child once a week through the Buddies Program which further improves their independence and responsibility in preparation for Year 4.
