About Sandringham Early Learning Centre (ELC)
The Early Learning Program at our private kindergarten values the importance of play and exploration. Along with the Early Years Learning Framework we embrace the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate (PYP).
The co-ed ELC community includes a wide variety of cultural, social and religious backgrounds. By embracing international mindedness through the PYP we recognise the significant contribution that each child and family makes to our community. As educators, we acknowledge the importance of listening to families who know their child best and to each child, who will communicate their needs and knowledge in so many different ways.
The ELC is part of the Junior School. In addition to sharing facilities, the ELC groups interact with Junior School students through the Buddy Program.
As a team, we believe it is important for children to develop a connection with nature and we foster this through outdoor play, the cooking and garden program and Bush Kinder.
Bush Kinder uses Bayside council land, adjacent to the School, to allow the children to explore and make connections with their surroundings. This gives them a deeper understanding of the interdependence between land, people, plants and animals and assists with recognising the importance of caring for the environment.
Exploring these environments allows boys and girls to identify different birds and plants and they understand to look out for ‘prickly’ bushes. They visit the bush in all sorts of weather conditions and enjoy the excitement of jumping in puddles and creating cubbies to keep themselves dry on wet days.
The staff in our ELC private kindergarten are dedicated to ensuring the development of well-rounded, happy and enthusiastic learners. The best way to understand and get a feel for any place is to come and visit. We encourage you and your child to visit our Early Learning Centre.
