Boarding House in Melbourne
“The Boarding House is a place to learn, a place to relax, a place of comfort, friendship and independence. We are more than friends, we are sisters, we are family and Firbank is our home.” Li, Captain of Boarders.
Since 1909, the Boarding House has been an integral part of life at Firbank in Melbourne. Students from rural Victoria, interstate and overseas live onsite in Tovell House, our purpose-built boarding facility. Year 12 students have their own study bedrooms and all other boarders are in twin-share study bedrooms. There is also a Health Centre adjacent to the Boarding House.
Students who board at Firbank are usually involved in a range of extra-curricular activities and are well integrated into the School community. On weekends, our boarders are free to leave the grounds and explore Melbourne with approved host families.
To ensure that our boarders get the most out of their time at Firbank, they are given support from academic staff during the day and supervised evening study times. They also have access to the School’s facilities including music and sporting facilities.
