Year Level Specific Programs
At Turner House, our Service Leadership Program is based on the ‘Servant Leadership’ philosophy created by Robert K Greenleaf in that ‘Good Leaders must first become good servants.’ Once a person fully understands the concept of learning by helping others, he or she begins to grow personally as a leader. A servant leader leads self, others and the community.
Each year level has a service Focus. Year 3 are Junior Mentors, Year 4 are Environment Leaders, Year 5 are Social Service Leaders and Year 6 are the Service Leadership Teams which includes School and House Captains Team, the Social Service team, the Wellbeing Team, Mentoring Team, Arts team and Events team. Our Year 6 leaders are those individuals/groups who serve at Firbank. They assist with ensuring we function as a true community. The Service Leadership positions are elected by peers and staff, with the final decision made by the Head of Campus.
“The true leader serves. Serves people. Serves their best interests, and in doing so will not always be popular, may not always impress. But because true leaders are motivated by loving concern rather than a desire for personal glory, they are willing to pay the price.” Robert K Greenleaf.
