RECORD RESULTS NAPLAN 2018!

In Term 2 our students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 all participated in the National Assessment Program-Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) Testing Program. We have recently received these results as well as those of all students in Victoria.

I was delighted to see that at all year levels, our Firbank boys and girls are performing well above the national average and have shown definite improvement in several areas. In particular, our Junior Schools in Brighton and Sandringham broke School records across the board.

Some of the highlights include:

Year 3

100% of students achieved above the Year 3 National Minimum Standards (NMS) for Reading, Writing, and Grammar & Punctuation, which also places them at the NMS for Year 5.
98% of students achieved above the Year 3 National Minimum Standards in Spelling and Numeracy, which also places them at the NMS for Year 5.

Year 5

100% of students achieved above National Minimum Standards (NMS) in Writing and Grammar & Punctuation, which also places them at the NMS for Year 7.

99% of students achieved above the National Minimum Standards in Reading, which also places them at the NMS for Year 7.

98% of students achieved above the National Minimum Standards in Numeracy, which also places them at the NMS for Year 7.
97% of students achieved above the National Minimum Standards in Spelling, which also places them at the NMS for Year 7.

Year 7

98% of students achieved above the National Minimum Standards in Numeracy, which also places them at the NMS for Year 9.
95% of students achieved above the National Minimum Standards in Reading, which also places them at the NMS for Year 9.
Students were above 90% across the board in Literacy and Numeracy

Year 9

Students exceeded 2017 NAPLAN results in Reading, Spelling, Grammar and Numeracy

96% of students achieved above the National Minimum Standards in Numeracy

Congratulations to our staff and students on these excellent results. Firbank Grammar continues to exceed educational standards and I am very pleased that our focus on Literacy and Numeracy continues to improve our students learning.
