Environmental Action Group (EAG)
“In our own small way, we are making an impact and improving our environment.” Sarah, Year 10.
From discovering ways to reduce the amount of plastic in our waterways, to learning how to grow their own food sustainably, the Firbank’s Environmental Action Group focuses on the impact of sustainable and ethical practices.
Activities include, contributing to their own food source by constructing and maintaining a vegetable garden, researching the installation of solar panels for the Senior School and creating awareness about reducing greenhouse gases during ‘Green Week’. These and other events form the basis of Firbank’s commitment to helping its students think about what kind of impact they can have on the world around them.
Latest EAG News from your Environmental Action Group:
Australians use nearly 10 million plastic bags every day, which amounts to four to six billion each year. 80 million of these bags escape into our litter stream, killing 100,000 birds and marine animals. And these bags will still be here for 1000 years before they break down. Please show your support for banning non-biodegradable plastic bags in Victoria by signing this petition.
