Latest from Year 6
2017 EXHIBITION
Over 8 weeks, students from Year 6 focused on their Exhibition under the transdisciplinary theme, ‘How we express ourselves.’ Students have inquired into the ways in which we convey our thoughts, feelings, emotions, culture and beliefs. Some of these forms of expressions include music, art and photography.
Firstly, students looked at the five essential elements of the PYP and worked towards creating a central idea. When they developed an understanding of these elements, and came up with their central idea, they split of into interest groups to discuss where they wanted to go with their inquiry.
In said groups each person came up with a line of inquiry and conceptual questions to guide their research. Over the next few weeks the Year 6s’ dove deeper into the meaning of their expression and answered their conceptual questions.
Lastly, they added their many weeks’ worth of work onto their boards, ready to present to the school community.
On the night of Exhibition guests came and watched live performances of the students’ action and expression. Then they explored the Exhibition space and learned about what the Year 6s’ had done for their inquiry. The following day the Year 6 students from Turner House and all students from Sandringham House came and viewed the Exhibition.
Over all it was a great learning experience for the Year 6 students of 2017.
