Latest from Year 5
The Year 5 students have been busy working on their final assessment task for their inquiry into the theme: How the World Works. This has involved making contact with and conducting an interview with an individual outside of school or their immediate family who has expertise with a particular form of expression. The students have been conducting interviews with dance instructors, actors, fashion designers, street artists and politicians and this experience will give them a much deeper insight into the concepts relating to the unit. They are gearing up to their final unit: Where We Are in Place and Time, which will involve an excursion to the Melbourne Immigration Museum. During the unit, the students will be learning about the different patterns of immigration that have led to the diverse range of ethnicities that make up the current mix of the Australian population and inquiring into the cultures and cultural stereotypes that exist in society. It will be an exciting and engaging unit to end our year on.
