Latest from Year 2
Welcome back to Term 2. We have had a busy start to our Term! Last week we came together with our buddies to focus on ANZAC Day. The children learnt about the significance of poppies and rosemary. After we watched these clips and discussed them, the Year 6 buddies took the Year 2 students out to the veggie patch to collect a sprig of rosemary. They then made poppies in the classroom. With the Year 1 students we read a book called ‘My Grandad Marches on ANZAC Day’ we used this time to discuss the importance of ANZAC Day and explain why we commemorate the day. Our second unit of inquiry is well under way. We began the unit by doing a thinking routine called a ‘chalk talk’, following that the students broke down the central idea and came up with definitions of the most important words.
