2017 Year 7 Vaccine program
The Bayside City Council’s immunisation service may contact you about their secondary school vaccine program. Schools have been authorised to provide parent contact details to local councils for this purpose. If you do not want your contact details given to the Bayside City Council contact the School via email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 9591 5134.
- The following vaccines are offered free to Year 7 students by Bayside City Council:
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. Students are given three injections with two months between the first and second dose and four months between the second and third dose.
- Chickenpox (Varicella) vaccine. If your child has previously had one dose of the chickenpox vaccine, they should have another dose. It is a single injection. - Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine. This vaccine protects against the three diseases in a single injection. Your child will have been vaccinated against these diseases in early childhood but an adolescent dose is recommended to boost protection.
The vaccines will take place at school during the 1st and 2nd periods on:
Wednesday 17 May
Wednesday 18 October
If your child is particularly nervous or has a history of fainting, it may be more appropriate to attend your local GP or speak to Immunisations at Bayside City Council on 9599 4444. Please ensure all students have a decent breakfast on the day of vaccination.
