2020 Visual Arts Scholarship
For students entering Years 7 to 11 in 2020.
The Visual Arts are an integral part of Firbank’s curriculum. The School has a long tradition of encouraging excellence in creative achievement through its Visual Arts program.
Studies in two-dimensional and three-dimensional work to promote individual artistic expression are part of the Art program. Student achievement is recognised in an annual Art Exhibition, in permanent displays around the School and in the broader community and in specific awards and acquisitive prizes. Our students have consistent success in gaining acceptance into Arts-related tertiary courses.
Visual Arts scholarships are offered to girls entering Years 7 to 11 in 2020. Firbank Grammar School and external candidates are eligible to apply. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of an interview and presentation of the student’s folio of work to the Head of the School’s Visual Arts Department and an interview with the Director of Admissions, Dr Jenny Peters. The Folio should contain a representative range of the student’s recent work. Short-listed candidates may then be requested to attend a practical session.
It is expected that the recipient of the scholarship would continue to study at least one of the Visual Arts through to VCE and maintain a high standard of both practical and theoretical performance. She should be a role model to other Visual Arts students at Firbank.
The scholarships are offered from the year of entry to Year 12, subject to an annual review, satisfactory annual school record, participation in the School’s Visual Arts program, appropriate conduct, attitude and adherence to School Policies.
If a successful applicant is a Boarder, she may be granted a remission of boarding fees. Please indicate on the Registration Form if you wish to be considered for a Boarding Scholarship for Visual Arts.
