Firbank has a strong record in understanding the potential of applying technology to enhance students’ learning.

The School has an extensive network and well-developed intranet which enables on-line delivery of curriculum. Computer ‘laboratories’, ‘class sets’ of laptops, interactive whiteboards and networked computers in subject areas give all students ready access to software, the Intranet and their personal files.

This multi-dimensional environment ensures that all students develop confidence and competence in using technology in all subjects.

The school is installing interactive whiteboards in classrooms on all campuses. Interactive Whiteboards provide a tool for teaching interactively. While much of the focus has been on using Information Communication Technologies to enhance learning, interactive whiteboards bring the focus back to enhancing teaching, helping teachers to do better what they already do well.

Interactive whiteboards lead to more substantive conversations in the classroom and higher order thinking and enable students to make powerful connections with prior learning.
