The School has an unqualified commitment to encouraging and supporting each student in striving to achieve personal success.
Members of the Department of Differentiated Education design individual programs to cater for differing abilities, levels of readiness and learning needs.
The Conquest Program This program is for gifted and talented students and has been designed to cater for the needs of students with particular strengths and learning abilities. Students are selected to participate on the basis of a range of criteria including: teacher or parent nominations, general academic ability, results in state-wide competitions and various objective tests designed to investigate reading comprehension, mathematical and general reasoning ability.
The program operates at Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 at Sandringham House and Turner House and at Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 at the Senior School Campus and consists of a variety of enriching experiences. Students are challenged to explore areas of learning that they might not normally encounter in the regular curriculum. Individual programs are designed by the Co-ordinator of Gifted and Talented Programs. These activities give students opportunities to develop investigative, problem-solving, analytical and creative thinking skills. The program options include small group withdrawal for studies such as philosophy; on-line learning, self-directed learning opportunities, mentoring, subject specific extension work and competitions such as Interschool Chess and Interschool Debating, Mathematics Olympiad, Senior Colloquia and Future Problem Solving.
