A variety of assessment techniques is used to cater for different learning styles. In the junior schools, reports give an indication of the developing progress of the student in Key Learning Areas and also provide an assessment of effort. In the Senior School, assessment may take the form of formal examinations (introduced at Year 9), topic tests, individual or group oral presentations, extended research projects and essays.
Effective communication with parents through regular reporting, information nights, social functions and the School’s publications is a vital part of the Firbank educational experience.
In Senior school, detailed reports with grades and descriptive comments are issued at the end of each semester. Progress reports are distributed at the end of Term 1 and Term 3.
In Junior School, full written reports are distributed at the end of each semester and information exchange between parents and teachers occurs in Term 1.
